Samsung QLED TVs Officially Certified for Quantum Dot Technology by TUV Rheinland

Samsung Electronics-display certification

SEOUL, May 8 (Yonhap) — On Thursday, Samsung Electronics announced that its newest series of QLED TVs had been certified by TUV Rheinland, a renowned worldwide certification organization based in Germany, for adhering to international standards related to quantum dot display architecture.

Samsung states that the Real Quantum Dot Display certification confirms that their QLED models meet the requirements set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard 62595-1-6. This standard outlines the necessity of using a quantum dot light conversion unit alongside blue light sources as an essential component for establishing the typical QLED design.

Rheinland TÜV tested the light spectrum of Samsung QLED televisions and identified distinct red, green, and blue wavelengths, showcasing excellent color precision.

Samsung stated that the unique spectral characteristics of its QLED TVsets distinguish them from models utilizing different materials, which may result in less vibrant or faded colors.

Samsung says this new certification highlights their strong position in the high-end television market.

Samsung QLED TVs have been officially certified for delivering genuine quantum dot performance according to global benchmarks," stated Son Tae-yong, who serves as the executive vice president of Samsung’s visual display business. "Our commitment remains focused on pushing technological boundaries and bolstering customer confidence as we maintain our leadership position in the high-end television sector.
